STEVE WOLFE

Steve Wolfe is the current President and CEO for Indiana Regional Medical Center (IRMC). Under his leadership over the past 17 years, there has been significant turnaround of IRMC’s performance and results in its five organizational Vitals: finance, service, quality, growth and people. The leadership team has led the organization’s growth of approximately 250%, consistently achieved top decile national outcomes for quality and service metrics, been voted a best place to work 15 times by employees and physicians and achieved a national goal of being named to the Fortune 100 List.

IRMC is facing the new health care environment and transformation to population health head-on. Strategies that the IRMC leadership team is deploying include development of a Lean culture for process improvement, completion of a $50 million Centennial Building Project to enhance the Operating Suite, Ambulatory Care, and Intensive Care Units and substantial clinical integration initiative with the medical community.


Prior to arriving at IRMC in 1999, Steve served as CEO at Clearfield Hospital from 1995-1999 where he was hired in 1992 as the Pharmacy Director and was promoted to Vice President of Medical Affairs and then Chief Operating Officer. Steve graduated from Temple University Pharmacy School in 1986 and is still a registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania and Florida. He continued his education to receive his Masters’ Degree in Public Administration from Penn State University (MPA) in 1994.

His successful leadership within the hospital setting has opened national, state-wide and regional health care leader opportunities including:

  • American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board member
  • Hospital Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) Board member
  • Hospital Council of Western Pennsylvania (HCWP) Chairman
  • HAP Public Payer Policy Committee and Strategic Planning Committee member
  • Appointed by Governor Rendell (recently re-appointed by Governor Corbett) to the Pennsylvania Healthcare Cost Containment Council (PHC4) - one of two hospital CEOs serving
  • Keystone Alliance for Performance Excellence (KAPE) Board Chairman and current Board member (State Level of Malcolm Baldrige Award Program)
  • Pennsylvania Mountains Health Alliance Founder and Chairman
  • Served on Governor Corbett’s Transition Team and one of two finalists for Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of PA.

Locally, Steve has served in leadership roles in the community including:

Steve and his wife, Karen, have been married for 29 years and have five children.
