ROBERT D. DUGGAN

Robert D. "Bob" Duggan was born in Akron, Ohio, on Feb. 27, 1933. After serving in the Air Force, he enrolled at Marietta College, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1959. He received a master's degree in business administration from Case Western University in 1963.

     He began his career in 1959 with the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. In 1966 he was promoted to vice president and chief operating officer of the bank's Cincinnati office. He later served as senior vice president and managing partner of the Pittsburgh office.

     Duggan joined S&T Bank in 1981 and was elevated to president and chief executive officer the following year. In those times, the bank had $200 million in assets and six offices in Indiana and Jefferson counties.
Under Mr. Duggan, S&T Bancorp made extraordinary achievements during his leadership. S&T Bancorp grew to a $3 billion financial services company with 49 offices in 10 Pennsylvania counties.


Mr. Duggan retired as chief executive officer in 1997, but he remained a director and chairman of the board of S&T Bank and S&T Bancorp until he passed away.

In addition to his work in banking, he was a trustee of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, the town's focal point and the largest state-owned school with about 14,000 students. He was also a member of the Business Advisory Council for IUP Business Department.
 
He was also chairman of the Indiana Regional Medical Center Board of Directors, co-chair of the successful 2001 Indiana Hospital Capital Campaign, chairman of the Indiana Economic Development Commission, director of the Foundation for IUP, and a director of the Indiana County Chamber of Commerce.
